How Content is Organized

Exercises

Each exercise has been given a unique number. This makes it easy for your physician, physiotherapist, personal trainer or other provider to identify exactly which exercise they want you to try! It also makes it easy for you to keep track of your own fitness journey.

Video Streams

There are three versions of each exercise video:

  • A: "Just teach it to me!” - This is the most simplistic and straight-forward version of the video. It is intended for anyone who is learning how to do the exercise for the first time (or for anyone looking for a review). It is likely that your physician, physiotherapist, personal trainer or other provider will direct you to the "A" stream. You'll know you've clicked on the correct video because the unique exercise number will have an "A" after it.

  • B: "I want to know more" - This version of the video is for anyone who wants to learn a bit more about the exercise. In addition to learning how to do the exercise properly, you will also learn which joints and muscle groups you are working. We created the "B" stream for exercise enthusiasts who are interested in embarking on a journey of self-directed learning.

  • C: "Highly technical" - This version of the video is for anyone who wants to learn in-depth exercise physiology. We created stream "C" specifically for individuals who are studying to become personal trainers or coaches, as well as for healthcare providers who are looking for a review. For each exercise, this version of the video will cover the joints, joint types, joint actions, agonists, antagonists, synergists, fixators, bones and relevant insertions and origins. Teaching tips and common errors will also be covered in this stream.

Video Series

Our exercises are divided into nine series. The first six series are comprised of functional movements required for everyday living and for athletic performance:

  1. Squats
  2. Hip Hinges
  3. Lunges
  4. Push Exercises
  5. Pull Exercises
  6. Core Endurance

It is extremely important that you progress gradually towards exercises of greater intensity and complexity. Depending on the equipment you have access to, you may have to skip a video or two in your journey. We've tried to indicate a logical path based on having access to a full gym, just your own body weight or somewhere in between. Most individuals will not progress to the end of each series. The goal is to find the version of the exercise that is challenging for you but will not cause injury.

The next three series are not necessarily meant to be followed in order, but instead can act as a resource for you. Your physician, physiotherapist, personal trainer or other provider will identify which exercises meet your personal needs:

            7.   Rehab & Isolation Exercises

            8.   Flexibility Exercises

            9.   Mindfulness Exercises
